Leidos Mechanical Design Engineer in Bedfordshire, United Kingdom
Description
Responsible for
Mechanical design and GA drawings for each customer, CAD work.
Create detailed mechanical drawings for manufacturing.
Maintenance of Vault Pro.
Use stress analysis tools to determine material/design requirements.
Managing engineering change notes through MRP system from creation to completion.
Compliance to functional safety and standards.
Supporting manufacturing teams during equipment builds.
Liaising with Project management, Engineering, manufacturing and Installation Teams.
Liaising with End User/Customer on a technical level.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Technical
Proficient in AutoDesk Inventor 3D, AutoCAD 2D & Vault Pro.
Experience using Inventor, Solidworks, and ePDM (preferred).
Experience in the design of conveyors/baggage handling.
Proficient in sheet metal design.
Experience in guarding design.
Experience in automation.
Knowledge of configuration management.
Costpoint MRP experience is an advantage.
Time Management
Good time keeping.
Organized and able to prioritize and plan to meet deadlines.
Communication
- Communication and writing skills including the ability to communicate at a detailed level with other engineering teams based on remote sites.
Team Working
Work well in a cross-functional team or as an individual.
Work with a remote team.
Cross Functional Working
- Continually build relationships with internal stakeholders to achieve the successful completion of projects.

Requirements
Skills & Attributes
Strong documentation and process discipline with close attention to details
Proficiency in creating 2D mechanical and electrical CAD documents
Experience
Previous experience in a similar working environment
Solid knowledge of 3D modelling, preferably SolidWorks, Inventor and AutoCAD
Managing engineering change notes
Wide-ranging technical background
Previous experience in all or some of the following areas:
Manufacturing
Mechanical/material handling
Conveyor systems
Control systems
Electrical power systems
MRP Systems
Qualifications
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or closely related field.
Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
