The National Security Sector within Leidos is seeking a junior Systems Administrator to support a UK effort focused on maximizing the public safety benefits of fingerprint and facial matching. With biometric technology developing at pace, and with new biometrics emerging rapidly, this landscape brings with it many important choices for Government, especially how to maximize the potential benefits to the public whilst protecting the privacy of the individual and addressing any potential impact of data aggregation. The program will transform the existing biometrics capabilities into a technically converged, but commercially disaggregated, strategic biometrics capability.

Your Main Mission:

The Junior Systems Administrator will be a critical member of the Infrastructure team, providing support to team members and participating in the planning and execution of test and development activities. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual seeking to grow in their IT career. The selected candidate must be detailed oriented, have strong verbal and written communication skills, and be able to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work side-by-side with the Infrastructure group in learning about the environment and the day-to-day activities

  • Learn how to perform daily monitoring of the environment and identify anomalies in the logs/tools

  • Participate in delivery of software releases through maintenance and integration of infrastructure equipment in the test and development environment

  • Maintain documentation in JIRA, Confluence, and Vector, as required

  • Actively participate in meetings, daily standups, and other activities associated with the work of Infrastructure team

  • Maintain security patching levels on test and development equipment

  • Perform cable and maintenance license audits

  • Configure new user accounts and equipment in the test and development environment

  • Maintain asset list and perform periodic inventories of assets across the estate

  • Provide inputs to materials forecast

  • Initiate procurement of new materials

  • Mitigate and escalate user issues, as appropriate

  • Submit and track work item tickets in JIRA

  • Provide status of work progress to Infrastructure Lead and Program Manager, both through verbal and written means

What Sets You Apart:

  • Must be a US Citizen with at least DoD Secret Clearance

  • Must be granted confirmation of clearance by UK government

  • BS degree in related field. Additional experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Ability to work independently and under supervision

  • Experience in development of technical documentation

  • Basic knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems

You Might Also Have:

  • Previous IT experience in a Linux environment

  • Previous IT experience in a Windows environment

Clearance Required:

  • Possess an active DoD Secret level clearance at the time of consideration. Additionally, this role requires UK confirmation of US clearance before starting.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $48,100.00 - $86,950.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
